Who We Are
................................................................................................................................
VISION STATEMENT
We see our purpose and mission realized
in the following long- term areas of ministry.
These elements of our vision are necessarily and fundamentally interrelated, serving not as
categories of exclusion, but as ways of defining our goals and subsequently our activities.
1. To bear witness to God's power and purpose in our worship together
(Psalm 96)
2. To present a high view of Christ's body--the church
(I Corinthians 12: 12-31)
3. To equip individuals to live consecrated and holy lives
(Ephesians 4: 11-13; Romans 12: 1-8)
4. To foster accountability
(Galatians 6: 1-5; Romans 15: 1-3; Hebrews 10: 24-25)
5. To hold forth the word of life
(II Timothy 4: 1-5; Matthew 28: 16-20)
The five basic goals of our Vision Statement
are realized in the following specific categories:
(1) WORSHIP
Our primary purpose, to glorify and enjoy God, is
the goal of our worship services. As we do this, we
plan to maintain a blend of the contemporary and the traditional
in worship styles. These styles are
multi-faceted, encompassing the variety of gifts God gives
to His people. Our vision for worship reflects our new life
in Christ. This is expressed in an atmosphere where the Bride
of Christ adores the Lord, a rehearsal for the great marriage
feast to come. In all ministries we are committed to the importance
of
the Word of God as the ground of our thinking and behavior.
We are also committed to the centrality of preaching in our
worship together, along with the regular observance of the
sacraments of baptism and the Lord's supper.
(2) LEADERSHIP
We recognize and acknowledge Christ Jesus as the
Head of the church, and that all church government must be
in light of this. We are committed to the teaching of scripture
that the local church is governed by elders. Therefore, our
central leadership philosophy is elder rule and lay ministry
development,
preparing God's people for works of service, so that the Body
of Christ may be built up (Ephesians
4: 11-12).
We recognize the need for leadership staff to assist in the
development and training of lay ministries. This staff may
include ordained and non-ordained persons for the following
areas:
• Worship and Music
• Christian Education
