Who We Are
................................................................................................................................
OUR PURPOSE STATEMENT
Christ Presbyterian Church is a community of Christians, called by our Lord Jesus Christ,
who find our identity in our corporate union with Him, and
in our love for each other
(I Corinthians 12: 12-27). At our organizational service on April 8, 1990, the congregation
affirmed the following vow: "In reliance on God for strength, we do solemnly promise and covenant
that we will walk together as an organized church, on the principles of the faith and order of the
PCA, and that we will be zealous and faithful in maintaining the purity and peace of the whole body."
Our primary purpose as the Body of Christ is to know and glorify the triune God: Father, Son,
and Holy Spirit (Deuteronomy 6: 5). In clarifying this purpose, we believe that the Old
Testament in Hebrew and the New Testament in Greek, being immediately inspired by God,
and by His singular care and providence kept pure in all ages, are therefore authentical, the
only infallible rule of faith and practice (II Timothy 3: 16-17). We believe that our organization
together is to be characterized by teaching, fellowship, observing the sacraments, and prayer
(Acts 2: 42). Our mission is to proclaim Jesus Christ as Lord, to do the work of an evangelist
and to present ourselves as His servants ministering to both spiritual and physical needs
(II Corinthians 4: 15; II Timothy 4: 5; Matthew 25: 40; Matthew 28: 18-20; Acts 1: 8).
